Essential Question: How does an author use figurative language to contribute to a theme or message?

Learning Objective: Students will anlayze how figurative language contributes to the central idea of a poem and short essay. (RI1, RI2,RI5L5)
Skills: close reading, analyze text for effective words,  identify figurative language, use context clues
Assessment: close reader,  textual citations, exit ticket in Schoology

Learning Objective:  Students will demonstrate research skills and connect to the theme of dogs helping people.  Students will create a presentation to share with the class using Google Slides.
Skills:  collecting research using technology, citing sources for research, preparing a presentation using online tools,
Assessment:  research presentation on google slides, cited sources on slides

Let's research:  You will be researching and citing your sources on a topic based on My Life in Dog Years.  You will be investigating one dog of your choosing (online) that you believe is the epitome of what a hero is.  You will research to find this special dog, tell the story about this dog, and then explain why you believe that specific dog is truly a hero.

You will be creating a Google Slides presentation that you will be sharing with the class.  This presentation should have both research and pictures on it.

You will also be required to have a citations for your research used.

The presentation is due BEFORE CHRISTMAS BREAK!!
We will present them the day we return.  :)
